Interstate Moving Tips

Finding the best interstate moving companies

According to some estimates, as many as 50 million Americans move each year. Moving is one of the most stressful things that we do, often ranked third behind only death and divorce. Depending on how much stuff, time and energy they have people can move their own things, or hire moving companies.

When someone moves, they have many options. Some people prefer to pack everything up, round up any friends or family members who own trucks or other large vehicles, and move everything themselves. Others rent trucks, trailers or other equipment to help them with the move. There are also many people who decide to hire a moving company to do all of the moving for them.

An interstate move is a move from a state to outside of that state. Moves that require travel across state lines are considered interstate, even if the end of the trip is in the same state that it started in. There are companies that specialize in interstate moving. Because traffic laws and regulations can vary from state to state, it might be a good idea to consult with an interstate moving company before you make an interstate move.

If you are planning a move, you should start as early as possible. Pack non essential items as soon as you can, and make sure that you mark all of the boxes as you are packing them. Mark any fragile or breakable items accordingly, so that no matter who is moving them they will know to handle them with care.
