We all know what needs to be done if a building is on fire. The fire department comes in and puts it out using whatever means necessary. Yet, what happens to the building after the fire is long gone? The YouTube channel, Incredible Restorations, demonstrates the process of what it takes to get a damaged building up to livable standards again.
Once any structure is saved from being consumed by fire, a fire and water damage restoration service will have to come in afterwards to do repairs. First, workers “moisture map” all the areas that need to be removed and disposed of.
Next, several drying machines are brought into the affected building and prepared to get rid of any excess moisture.
There are times where large sections of drywall have to be completely removed so that the wood behind it can dry. Demolition of all the affected areas inside the building could take months to fully map out and complete.
Even after all the wet material has been removed, the workers go through another detailed search. This ensures that no mold will grow inside the walls in the near future. Only then can the restoration process begin.
