The foundation of your home is one of the strongest parts, but sometimes it will require repairs. It’s important to hire a foundation repair contractor who knows what they’re doing to avoid significant structural damage to your home. This video explains a few things you need to look for in a foundation repair contractor.
The first thing you need to look for is a real lifetime warranty with no “transferrable” gimmicks. Get a copy of the warranty and check over it with a fine-tooth comb. Contact the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints against the company concerning their warranties. You want something that will stay with the home, no matter what.
Next, get your foundation assessed by a structural engineer. If the foundation repair contractor you are talking to doesn’t recommend a structural engineer assessment, that’s a red flag. Most cities will provide the services for homes, and the structural engineer will create a repair plan to protect your home.
The other thing you want to do is get a second opinion. A structural engineer will often be able to provide that. They have no strings attached to the foundation repair company, and will give you an unbiased assessment of what they think you need.
